Who would have thought that a group of such diverse individuals could make the sound they do in North East Texas. The North East Texas Choral Society has been making great sounds since its beginning. The first call for auditions in 1998 brought about 100 people together from all walks of life that have one thing in common; we love to sing.
The Choral Society currently performs two major concerts per year. The Christmas concert is held the first weekend in December, and the spring concert is held the first weekend in May. Each concert consists of a Saturday evening and a Sunday afternoon performance. Our friends continue to tell us that each concert is better than the last. Each performance is recorded and CD's are available. Come hear us sing, and while you are there, pick up a CD to take home with you.
Our major fund raising event each year is our Cabaret. Each Cabaret consists of an excellent dinner, and super entertainment. This is the time that we get to show our supporters how much we appreciate them. This is also the time when the Choral Society members get to show off their talents. The Cabaret performances are filled with fun and excitement. Don't miss an opportunity to attend this performance.
After forming in June of 1998, NETCS was asked to perform in July 1998 for Texas Governor George W. Bush at a meeting held in Sulphur Springs. Since that inaugural concert, NETCS has held at least two concerts every year. The objectives of this organization are:
1. to educate and to promote community interest in choral music;
2. to provide for members to participate in various phases of choral work;
3. to promote the interest and/or advance the enjoyment and appreciation of choral music.
And as Carol says, "The Best Is Yet To Come."
